ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Currently, I am devoting most of my art-making time to mixed media abstractions ("Flow" and "Geometric/Grid" abstracts), while continuing  my interest in landscape work and a variety of other subjects, including the occasional experimental and surreal piece, as well as evocative or provocative portraiture.

As you will see, the website includes representatives of the variety of styles and subjects to which - or through which - I target my visually creative expressions. As I look back over the past couple of decades, it is apparent that my aesthetic orientation is really quite diverse. I work in what I call "suites" or categories; it is an approach that allows me to develop various styles that improve in quality over time but still yields the variety I want. While most galleries want a signature style for an artist, the mere thought of producing the same type of work year in a and year out makes me shudder. I hope you find something to suit your liking in this eclectic portfolio of diverse subjects and styles.

SALES & PRICES

The paintings and other mixed media creations that Richard has for sale are included with the pieces in each of the distinctive categories listed at the top of the home page. Those for sale and their prices are specifically identified. Basic details about the painting or collage, including medium, size, and price, are listed beside the painting's photographed image. If they are not identified as being for sale, inquiries regarding a sale will at least be entertained for the piece in question.

These are almost all original paintings or art pieces. Only in special circumstances will photo-printed copies be made, including: (1) for fund-raising purposes for a political cause or charity that is a preference of the artist, (2) as a response to a special contribution request by an organization hosting a community-minded event, and (3) as a direct response by the author to a personal interest.

To access each category of work, simply click on any one of the categories listed at the top of the home page under the Gallery tab. The listed works include both framed and unframed works. If they are framed, an additional cost for the framing (and frame) will be included in or added to the total price. Not all pictures are frame-worthy and the artist is not willing to frame each picture. As a rule, pricing is specific to the piece; its determination is based on the costs of framing materials and subjective, preferential determination by the artist.

In general, small pieces (up to 12" by 12") range between $80 and $150, depending on the degree of elaboration and work that went into the painting or semi-sculptural piece.

Paintings or art reliefs that are in the 20" by 30" to 30" by 30" size range are typically priced between $300 and $800.

Larger paintings generally vary from $1000-$3000, with some fluctuation in price over time in response to demand. Highly detailed pieces may incur a much higher pricing.

Discounts can be arranged for retailers and interior decorators in circumstances in which a significant number of potential clients will be exposed to the work.

Local sales in the Regina area can be transacted through direct contact at the artist's home/studio. Packaging and freight charges must also be added to the price.
